There are great restaurants to go to.you will go back another time! If you can plan a whole day on one of the days it's open late (Wed or Fri) and take some breaks, you then have the option to spend more time (or not). I love looking out the windows, and looking at the ceilings. I love reading the laminated cards in each room to learn about the paintings, so it takes me longer in each room. I think you can see a lot in 3-4 hours if you plan well. We went on three separate days on our first trip (6 hours the first time really exhausting and me not enjoying the last hour, DH still in heaven), 4 hours the second and third times. My interest in art is greater now than on my first trip to the Louvre. But, if I take an hour break, I'm good for another 2-3 more hours. I get museum burn-out after about 3 hours. It's probably the Denon wing you want to see (Mona Lisa? the other Leonardos? Boticelli?) (We have a 10 minute video of people walking past the Boticellis without even glancing at them - one man glances one man stops and reads the legend then calls his friend over - so 3 people looked at them in 10 minutes!) You could have had them all to yourself, basically. It's not just big, it's rather confusing to a first timer. Key point: get on their website and try to figure out where things are. By an hour before closing, everything was open. Eventually, of course, the rooms reopened, but people had to stand in line to get in. They closed the room where the Mona Lisa is displayed (and the entire Egyptian collection) on the Monday we were there in December. Crowds on first Sundays are horrific (and Mondays aren't that great in general, either, due to so many other museums being closed and the Louvre being open). ![]()
